Amendoeira Golf Resort Host Europe’s Best Junior Golfers for 10th Oceânico World Kids Golf Championship
The Algarve resort attracts a full field of elite juniors from across Europe for a fun-filled week of family activities and intense competition
The Oceânico World Golf Kids Championship returned to Amendoeira Golf Resort for its tenth staging. 140 of the world’s most promising young golfers descended on the resort for an unforgettable week of golf and celebrations to mark the 10th anniversary of the prestigious event.
Once again, the Oceânico World Kids Golf Championship offered an unrivalled competitive environment for the young hopefuls. In addition to the world-class courses and practice facilities, the fully furnished player lounges and media centre gave the kids a truly professional experience. Players enjoyed the rare chance to perform in front of TV cameras, with the event set to be broadcast on Sky Sports Golf later this year.
With World Amateur Golf Ranking points on offer for the U18 age groups, the event attracted some of Europe’s finest young golfers to compete over two of Portugal’s best courses; the Faldo and O’Connor Jnr. Designed by their namesakes, the courses sit alongside one another and provide entirely different challenges– with the Faldo course testing distance control and ball flight due to severe elevation changes, and the O’Connor Jnr course providing the ultimate test on the greens due to subtle undulations and tricky pin placements.
Each age category played three rounds, with winners hailing from five different countries around Europe. Local player Martim Baptista and Jessica Adams from the UK stole the spoils in the headline U18 age groups. For a full list of results for all age categories, visit

On top of the high level of competition, the week gave families the chance to make memories that will last a lifetime. Headlined by the second Annual Parent-Child Par-3 Contest played under the floodlights at Amendoeira’s Academy Par-3 Course, OWKG hosted a full-slate of fun family activities.
The event received a huge boost with the attendance of Ladies European Tour professional Rebecca Hudson, who hosted a Beat-The-Pro contest on the seventh hole during the Parent-Child Par 3 Contest and hosted a Q&A for all competitors and parents.
Chris Howell of the Oceânico Group said “OWKG is always one of the most eagerly anticipated events in our diary. We take great pride in the fact that we offer kids such a professional experience and to think that we could be an important stepping stone in one of the great golfers of tomorrow’s journey is incredibly satisfying. The fact that we’ve reached our tenth staging of the event speaks volumes for the great work our team do – we’re already looking forward to hosting the next ten!”
