Gastro-golf is now on the menu at the luxury Carton House

Gastro-golf is now on the menu at the luxury Carton House in Maynooth, County Kildare. Significant investment has seen a completely renovated stylish new clubhouse unveiled, as well as enhanced golf facilities including a gastropub and barbecue terrace, to complement the estate’s two celebrated championship golf courses.

The new Carriage House dining option is a comfortable classic gastro-pub, for relaxing after a round of golf, or an impromptu lunch or dinner. Traditional menu favourites are impeccably presented and include a legendary corn and seafood chowder, the ‘full Monty’ Burger, aptly named for the renowned designer of the resort’s sweeping links style course, and the almost sinful ‘Queen of Puddings’!
Live music adds to the ambiance on the weekends and, during July and August, The Carriage House will host a jazz-themed outdoor barbecue on the deck on Sundays.

Great Golfing Offers
The completely redesigned professional shop stocks the latest ladies and gents golf clothing, equipment and accessories featuring the updated resort branding. The members clubhouse facilities including changing facilities and exclusive members lounge have had a luxurious makeover reflecting the prestigious estate venue.

Home to the Golfing Union of Ireland (GUI), golfers who are not Carton House members can take advantage of a variety of great golfing offers, introduced to showcase the new facility.

An exclusive GUI members golf offer is valid through to October 2019, with special rates from €50 per person playing Monday through Thursday, or from €55 per person on Fridays. A Twilight Summer Golf deal allows players to take advantage of the longer summer evenings with a round on either of the two championship courses from €40 per person, or from €50 per person with a shared buggy. Guests should be an active member of a golf club and will need their GUI card on arrival.

Spring course renovation including over-seeding the greens with high quality creeping bent and new soil has now produced enviable putting surfaces. New planting around the O’ Meara course includes rhododendron, azaleas, hydrangea and camellias, adding colour and complexity to the parkland golfing experience. Additional tree planting including exotic cherries, flowering tulip and handkerchief trees greatly enhances the course landscape, and older tree species that had been lost to the estate are being replanted.
