In Dublin's Fair City: St. Annes GC
St. Anne’s Golf Club is located on the beautiful Bull Island, a world famous nature reserve, only 8km from Dublin City Centre, affectionately known as “Dublin’s Fair City”.
Founded in 1921, St. Anne's started as a 9 hole course back in 1921 and about 15 years ago achieved 18 hole links course status. In the past few years, the course itself has undergone significant development, which included the building of five new greens and eight new tee complexes.
The sacred turf of the old Croke Park pitch (Irelands infamous GAA grounds) was used to great effect in developing, strengthening and giving real definition to the back nine in St. Anne’s.
The unique setting of this famous old links with the splendid panoramic views of Howth Head and across Dublin Bay to the Wicklow mountains ensures a most relaxing and enjoyable game.
The impressive links (Par 71) in the heart of Dublin is both a challenge and a pleasure to play, surrounded as it is by the Irish Sea on one side and the peace and tranquillity of a beautiful nature reserve on the other.
This includes three par fives and four par threes and being a links course, the wind conditions can be a major factor in how the course is played.
St Anne’s Golf Club now has one of the most impressive club houses in the country with spectacular views of Dublin Bay. It is a wonderfully modern clubhouse with an unrivalled and uninterrupted panorama stretching from Howth Head to the north across the Liffey estuary and the city to Bray Head and the Wicklow mountains to the south, it certainly has come along was since the old tin shack clubhouse from 1925.
There are over four hundred Golf clubs in Ireland, with a massive fifty three of these being links courses. St. Annes is one of the highly ranked golf courses in this elite club.
