The luxurious Argentario Golf Resort & Spa, located in the Maremma region of Tuscany, is an ideal destination for those looking for relaxing holiday that combines golf, wellness and gastronomy. Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty on the Monte Argentario promontory, the resort is home to an eco-friendly golf course that meanders through cork-oak woods and olive groves, a comprehensive spa and wellness centre and the Dama Dama Restaurant which offers delicious, healthy local cuisine prepared from locally-sourced produce. The five-star hotel is a triumph of design and comfort throughout; a majestic entrance, a dramatic central stairway and huge windows are in stunning contrast to the intense blue Tuscan sky and Mediterranean landscapes whilst the 73 rooms and suites offer sleek, modern interiors that are beautifully appointed, all with private decked terraces. For families or small groups, Locker Cottage is an independent hideaway sleeping six that is located on the hillside 200m from the main building, with guests benefitting from the use of all the facilities at the resort.
Argentario Golf Resort & Spa is offering a getaway this summer for golfers who also love the beach with the creation of the ‘Tuscan Summer Dream’ package.
The golf break includes 18 holes of golf over the par 71, 6,218 metre Argentario golf course, two days of beach service (including a parasol, sun beds and towels) at one of the most exclusive beach clubs on the Maremma coast and a welcome dinner at the resort’s acclaimed Dama Dama Restaurant. In addition guests can enjoy a daily buffet breakfast at the resort, use of the wellness centre and outdoor pools and, for those families with children, the Mini Club is available in July and August whilst for partners who do not golf, there is a 25-minute massage in the hotel spa as an alternative. Rates for the three-night package in a double Tuscany Junior Suite start from Euros 652.50 (£570) per person.
The Argentario course, adjacent to this luxurious resort in the heart of the Maremma, is set in the protected natural terrain of the Argentario promontory with stunning panoramas over the Orbetello Lagoon, the Tyrrhenian Sea and the surrounding rugged hillside. The front nine is laid out amongst Mediterranean vegetation and cork oak trees whilst the second nine weaves itself in and out of ancient olive groves and a number of natural water hazards.
Established 12 years ago, the course was constructed in line with the eco-conscious philosophy that has been applied to the construction of the whole resort using only natural products. Over 300,000 new plants were introduced on to what was abandoned and arid land and the new habitat has seen the return of wildlife such as fallow deer, hares and a variety of birds in the area. As a result, the golf course is the proud recipient of the BioAgricert environmental certification for its bio eco-compatibility, sustainability and water management.
